Liên Việt Post Bank in second round

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam’s Thông Tin Liên Việt Post Bank topped the Pool A of the Asian Volleyball Confederation Women’s Club Championships after their second win yesterday in Binan City, the Philippines.

The Vietnamese club won  二 五- 一 四,  二 三- 二 五,  二 五- 一 七,  二 五- 一 八 over Kwai Tsing of Hong Kong.

Earlier, they came from behind to defeat Foton Pilipinas of the hosts on Sunday.

With two wins, Liên Việt Post Bank advanced to the second qualification round as the leader of the pool. Foton Pilipinas, with one win, also went through as the second-placed club.

In other activities yesterday, Altay VC of Kazakhstan lost  一 六- 二 五,  一 七- 二 五,  一 九- 二 五 to Japanese NEC Red Rockets in Pool C. Thai Bangkok Glass, with Vietnamese spiker Nguyễn Thị Ngọc Hoa, pocketed their second win beating Bank Sarmayeh of Iran  一 七- 二 五,  一 二- 二 五,  一 五- 二 五 in Pool B.

Twelve clubs participated in the tournament’s four pools with two top teams of each pool advancing into the second qualification.
